Terminology Guide
Hemostatic agent
A substance that stops or slows bleeding by promoting rapid clot formation at the wound site. In emergency pet care, hemostatic sprays let you control blood loss in seconds before reaching professional care.
Chitosan
natural biopolymer (derived from shellfish) used as the active clotting agent in HemoSEAL. On contact with blood, it forms a gel-like barrier that seals the wound and accelerates natural clotting—the same technology trusted by first responders and military medics.
Activated carbon (activated charcoal)
A highly porous form of carbon that binds ingested toxins in the GI tract before they enter the bloodstream. The basis of ReadyRESCUE for pet poison response.
Rescue oxygen
Short-term, emergency oxygen delivered on-scene or during transport to stabilize an animal in respiratory distress (smoke inhalation, heat stress, post-pursuit recovery). Distinct from ongoing oxygen therapy.
Chest seal
A trauma component that covers penetrating chest wounds to help maintain proper pressure in the chest cavity until veterinary care is reached.
Flow regulator (LPM)
The component that controls oxygen flow rate, measured in liters per minute (LPM), so you can match delivery to the size and need of the animal. These are found on our rescue oxygen kits.
