The Venturi difference

The Venturi Kit is included with every Buster ICU Oxygen Cage. It determines the oxygen level in the Cage by mixing room air with pure oxygen from the oxygen source. This process also multiplies the total airflow through the Cage, which helps to disperse carbon dioxide, heat, and humidity.

What is an Oxygen Concentrator?

An Oxygen Concentrator is a device that filters oxygen from the surrounding air to provide high-purity (>90%) oxygen to pets. It is often used in veterinary clinics and at home to provide oxygen to pets that require extended periods of oxygen therapy, typically more than 1 hour of oxygen a day.

Are there different kinds of Pet Oxygen Concentrators?

There are several types of Oxygen Concentrators, however, not all Oxygen Concentrators are effective for administering oxygen to your pet.

Pawprint Oxygen sells medical-grade, continuous flow Oxygen Concentrators that support a safe environment for your pet during oxygen therapy. We have two models:

  • Pawprint Oxygen Pro 5: This model has a maximum flow rate of 5 liters per minute, which is required for the Small and Medium Buster ICU Cages.
  • Drive Medical 1025DS: This model has a maximum flow rate of 10 liters per minute, which is required for the Large Buster ICU Oxygen Cage.

Non-medical grade Oxygen Concentrators, such as those available on Amazon or without a prescription, may not be able to produce enough oxygen to support a safe environment for your pet. They typically produce lower oxygen purity at higher flow rates.

Portable or Pulse Dose Oxygen Concentrators use pressure sensors to deliver oxygen in small bursts based on your breathing. These units are NOT appropriate for pets because they cannot sense their breathing.

Do I need to refill a Pet Oxygen Concentrator?

No, you do not need to refill an Oxygen Concentrator. It constantly generates oxygen from the room air, so you never need to worry about running out of oxygen.

What kind of Oxygen Concentrator do I need for the Oxygen Cage?

In order to achieve safe levels of oxygen, carbon dioxide, heat, and humidity inside the Buster ICU Oxygen Cage, you need to supply it with a continuous flow, medical-grade Oxygen Concentrator. Your Oxygen Concentrator needs to be able to produce >90% oxygen at flow rates from 5 to 10 liters per minute.

The Small and Medium Buster ICU Cages require a flow rate of at least 5 liters per minute. The Large Buster ICU Cage requires a flow rate of 10 liters per minute.

What maintenance is required for the Oxygen Concentrator?

These machines are very easy to use and require little maintenance. Other than the occasional wipe-down to remove excess dust and debris, there are two filters within the concentrator. The first filter you’ll see on the back is the pre-mesh filter. This can be removed and rinsed as needed with warm soapy water and allowed to dry completely before putting it back on the machine (much like your vacuum’s sponge filter). Behind the pre-mesh filter is the Box filter, which does not need to be replaced until you’ve reached 5,000 hours (the hour-meter is the small digital display on the side of the unit) or one year of steady use.

The Small and Medium Buster ICU Cages require a flow rate of at least 5 liters per minute. The Large Buster ICU Cage requires a flow rate of 10 liters per minute.

I purchased my Oxygen Concentrator more than 30 days ago, but I no longer need it. What can I do with it?

After 30 days, a purchased concentrator cannot be returned. However, most veterinary offices, emergency hospitals, and even animal shelters are always extremely grateful to receive these life-saving machines as a donation!

I’m not sure how long I’ll need the Oxygen Concentrator. Do you have rental options?

Yes we do! Our concentrators can be rented on a monthly basis or purchased outright. Our rental option is perfect for pets who may need a lot of oxygen but not for a long period of time, such as those recovering from pneumonia or other short-term illnesses, as well as pets who may have an uncertain prognosis.

If you’re unsure that this is the best fit for you, give us a call at 855-699-4366 and we’ll help you make the best choice for you and your pet.

Our Pawprint Pro5 model can be rented for $400 for the first month and $200 each month after. The Drive10 model can be rented for a $500 monthly fee. These units come with brand new oxygen tubing and a pre-paid return label for your convenience. Simply place the return label over the old one, drop off at your nearest UPS store, and we’ll take care of the rest!

I work in a veterinary office. Can the Oxygen Concentrators be used with our anesthesia machines?

Yes! The Pawprint Pro5 unit is intended for use with anesthesia equipment as well as for oxygen therapy. All you need to do is remove the green ‘Christmas tree’ adaptor and connect a 1240 DISS fitting from the machine to your equipment.

Fantastic

I have nothing but praise for this company. From their customer service to the very concept itself. While my boy only got to use the product twice before he passed...it did help us and gave us peace of mind. I highly recommend.

Our fur baby

Our fur baby, Aubie, has felt better since our purchase of his Pawprint Oxygen.
We live where none of the vet clinics have oxygen chambers so we have to travel 4 hours to the nearest Emergency facility that can provide this. After a couple emergency trips, we felt it would be best that we have it available for him at home. Best purchase we have made in a long while.
Aubie thanks you!

Hi Gary, thank you so much for sharing your story with us! We're glad the oxygen kit and oxygen concentrator set up has given you (and Aubie!) some peace of mind to know you'll be able to safely treat him at home. We're so happy that he is feeling better, as well!
